Get ready to mark your calendars because the Weston Beach Rugby & Netball Fest is back, bigger and better than ever for 2025! From Friday, August 15th to Sunday, August 17th, the sands of Weston-super-Mare will be transformed into the ultimate playground for sports enthusiasts and partygoers alike. This isn’t just a tournament; it’s a full weekend experience packed with competitive games, live music, and a beach party you won’t want to miss.
The Action on the Sand
The festival kicks off on Friday with a launch party featuring live music from local favorites, The Dark Horses, and team registration on the beach. But the real action begins on Saturday and Sunday, with tournaments for both tag rugby and beach netball.
Rugby teams can enter men’s, women’s, mixed, and even family categories for £150 per team. Each squad can have up to 10 players, with five on the field at a time for a fast-paced, rolling-subs game. Similarly, netball teams can compete in ladies’ and mixed divisions for a team fee of £100. Teams of up to seven players will battle it out with five on the court at once. Both sports are a fantastic way to enjoy the beach while getting a workout!
Teams looking to look the part can even get their own bespoke kits designed by Karuta Sportswear, the festival’s official kit manufacturer.
Party ’til Sunset
The festival isn’t just about the daytime games. On Saturday night, the beach will come alive with a special event in partnership with Party in the Castle, presenting Party on the Beach. Headlining the evening’s entertainment is none other than former England rugby star turned DJ, James Haskell, supported by a full lineup of other artists. This exclusive 18+ event promises to be the highlight of the weekend, running from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Tickets for the party can be purchased separately, but teams booking their tournament entry can grab discounted bundle tickets.
Your Weekend Itinerary
The festival is structured to provide a perfect balance of sport and celebration.
- Friday, August 15th: The weekend begins at 6:00 PM with the launch party and team registrations.
- Saturday, August 16th: Tournaments run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, followed by the Party on the Beach from 6:00 PM.
- Sunday, August 17th: The final day of tournaments runs from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, culminating in the awards and celebration drinks from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
For those traveling from out of town, camping is available at the local Weston Rugby Club, which includes showers and washing facilities. Pitches must be booked in advance for the two-night stay.
