The beach party just wrapped up! Here is a recap of the BBC Radio 2 Dance Sounds of the 90s Sundowner Session featuring Vernon Kay, which took place last night, Friday, June 26, 2026

The event transformed the private, cliff-enclosed cove of Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay into a massive open-air dance floor right on the sand. True to the venue’s reputation, attendees braved the famous 133 steps down the cliffside to reach the secluded Atlantic shoreline.

For the Dance Sounds of the 90s Sundowner Session at Lusty Glaze Beach, Vernon Kay is joined by two support DJs

Both Darren Noguerol and Aldo Vanucci are highly respected veterans of the UK electronic and club scenes, making them the perfect fit to build the energy for a 90s beach sunset session before Vernon Kay takes over.

Vernon Kay’s Set: Headlining the night, the BBC Radio 2 presenter brought his Sounds of the 90s radio brand to life. His energetic set was packed with big-room club anthems, euphoric house, classic trance, and rave favorites that had the crowd dancing under the stars with hands in the air.

It was a brilliant fusion of Cornwall’s natural sunset scenery with the high-octane club culture of one of electronic music’s most defining decades.

Lusty Glaze is a unique, privately owned horseshoe cove tucked beneath dramatic 200-foot cliffs on the northern edge of Newquay. Because the owners hold the rare rights to the sand all the way down to the low-water mark, they are able to transform the entire beach into a private, ticketed open-air arena.

The Descent: The beach is famous for its main entry point—a steep flight of 133 steps down the cliffside, offering sweeping Atlantic views as you descend.
Weekly Sundowner Sessions: Outside of major ticketed concerts, the beach hosts free, non-ticketed weekly sunset sessions throughout spring and summer, showcasing local live musicians and DJs to soundtrack the Golden Hour.
Amenities: Down on the sand, visitors have access to a relaxed beach bar, a restaurant pairing local plates with ocean vistas, takeaway wood-fired pizzas, and on-site surfing and water sports.
