Get ready for a day of rural charm and family entertainment as the annual Newton Abbot Country Show returns to Newton Abbot Racecourse on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Running from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, this event promises a packed schedule of activities, displays, and delicious food for all ages.
A Dog Lover’s Paradise
Animal lovers are in for a treat, with the inaugural Newton Abbot Dog Show taking center stage. Organized by Jared Baldwin from D4dogwalking and supported by local businesses, the show will feature a variety of fun categories, including “Best Male Dog,” “Best Veteran,” and “Waggiest Tail.” Dog racing is also on the schedule, where your four-legged friend can sprint for a good cause. Entry to the dog show is just £2, with all proceeds going to the Devon Dog Behaviour Rehab Rehome charity.
Market Stalls and Local Crafts
The show is a shopper’s delight, with over 25 outside market stalls and more than 50 inside craft and gift stalls. This is a perfect opportunity to browse and buy from a fantastic range of local traders and talented artisans, offering everything from handmade goods to unique gifts and country crafts.
Entertainment for Everyone
Live entertainment will be a highlight of the day, with music from a local teenage band called Collision and a country music band, The Oo-de-lallys, performing in the beer garden. Families will also enjoy a variety of activities, including bouncy castles, pony rides, and a classic cars display.

- The return of the Dartmoor Hill Pony Display Team.
- The South Devon Hunt and Newton Bushell Morris Dancers.
- Canine Capers with their dog agility demonstrations.
- Displays from the Torbay Owls and a pottery painting workshop with Poppins Pottery.
- For the more adventurous, Devon Bushcraft will be running axe throwing, and the Torquay Co of Archers will be on hand for archery skills.
The event will also be a bittersweet occasion, as it marks the last time the Humaryn Shetland Ponies will be attending, with Hugh and Marilyn retiring.
Fueling the Fun
A wide variety of food and drink will be available throughout the day. From the hog roast tent and a selection of food trailers to the Silks barista coffee café and Alfresco fast food café, there’s something to satisfy every craving.
Tickets are an affordable £6.00 for adults in advance (£8.00 on the day), and children go free, making it an ideal family day out. It’s a full day of fun, laughter, and community, celebrating the best of the Devon countryside.
