Comedianw Russell Howard has revealed the tragic death of his baby son, Felix, who died shortly after his wife gave birth.

Completely heartbreaking đź’”

He took to social media to thank NHS staff for their support after what he described as the “most devastating time of our lives”.

During their stay in hospital, the family were supported by a bereavement midwife named Lauren who had previously lost her own baby and retrained to support others.

The couple were able to spend precious hours with their son using a special cool cot.

“We could hold him, talk to him and tell him just how much we loved him,” Russell said.

“Those hours are among the most precious memories we have of Felix.

“During the most devastating time of our lives, the hospital staff who cared for us showed extraordinary compassion, kindness and humanity.

“They helped us navigate an unimaginable heartache and gave us support when we needed it most.”

The couple have now set up ‘The Felix Foundation’ in memory of their son to help other families facing baby loss, premature birth, and stillbirth.

“We were overwhelmed by the care we received, and we made a promise to each other: that we would try to help other families who find themselves facing the same devastating circumstances,” he added.

A special Charity Stand Up Gala will take place at the O2 in London in February featuring comedians including Aisling Bea, Greg Davies, Jimmy Carr, John Bishop, and Michael McIntyre.
